Ofwat, the water regulator for England and Wales, has kept a close eye on the market and its performance, along with MOSL, the market operator, and The Consumer Council for Water (CC Water). Second quarter market data (2018-19)

MOSL have published data on market activity from the second quarter (July-September 2017).

Below are some of the charts from MOSL’s report.

Cumulative switching of service

The second quarter has seen over 30,000 switches of water and wastewater meter points in England and Wales, bringing the total number of switches to 175,828 since the market opened in April 2017.

Proportion of switches in wholesale areas

The proportion of switching by wholesale area shows that the highest levels of relative switching activity can be seen in the south and south-eastern areas of England.

Consumption profiles

MOSL also monitor switching activity according to water consumption per supply point.
