Business Stream is one of the largest water retailers in the UK. Employing c300 people, the company provides a range of services to over 300,000 business customers including billing, water efficiency support and water and waste water management solutions.
Originally created in 2006 to offer best in class water services to businesses in Scotland, Business Stream acquired the non-household customer base of Southern Water in 2017 (ahead of the opening of the English retail water market) and then the customer base of Yorkshire Water Business Services (YWBS) and Three-Sixty in 2019.
The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water with its own board and independent management team. Its head office is based in Edinburgh and the retailer also has a presence in West Sussex and West Yorkshire.
Since 2008, the company has helped its customers save over £335million through discounts and water and energy efficiencies and over 57billion litres of water – the equivalent of over 23,000 Olympic sized swimming pools.
In 2019 Business Stream launched its vision to make a positive difference to its customers, its people, the environment and its local communities. In recognition of its commitment to its vision, in November 2022, Business Stream achieved a Gold rating from global sustainability assessors, EcoVadis. The assessment is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact and ISO2600 certification and measures companies’ commitment to the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
